Disappearing menu text

One of the customer of my application reported the top level menu text disappears while sub-menu are fine. You can see the effect in <a href="http://cube.txt-nifty.com/blog/ecto_win_bug.gif">this screen shot</a>. I have not encountered this issue during development nor able to reproduce it in either my english XP or japanese win2k installations.

Have someone here seen this issue before? And what is the solutions?

Well, it shouldn't be as I only have the licensed version installed. Unless the installer has installed both version on my machine?

I have not encountered this issue before either. Your other toolbar is drawing fine so it can't be a case of an evaluation timeout.

I have been over the relevant code and can see no reason why drawing of toplevel items should fail. Perhaps you could try with another renderer?

Strangely, the customer installed a newer version of my app and now the menu bar renders correctly.

The problem crops up again, but fortunately this time I can reproduce it on my Japanese VPC. I am currently using verison 1.3.1 and all the sub-menu items render Ok, with all the Japanese top-level menu items not. Weird thing is that one of the new top-level menu has not been localized yet and so still in English and that render Ok too. I can post screen shot if you need me to.

Screenshots will prove there is a problem but cannot help us determine what the problem is, unfortunately. Can you provide a VPC image of the combination of localization and SandBar settings that shows this issue?

I am slightly confused. VPC image? Won't that be rather large to share (though I have no issue of sharing)? Or are referring to something else? And what SandBar settings are you referring to? The designer properties? I guess I need more specific instruction as to what to provide you to debug this issue.

Yes, I assume you would need to send us the image on CD. If you open a bug for this through customer support I can help you with it there.

Alternatively you could post the project here, but we may not be able to reproduce the bug if it depends on a certain installation of Windows.

Please post the resolution on this thread as we are also missing our Japanese menu text.  Here's what we've discovered so far.

1) On a Japanese OS (XP or Win2K), the main menu text is missing.  The submenus are fine.

2) On an English OS, configured to show the Japanese menus, the main menus and submenus are fine.

3) Rolling back from 1.3.1 to 1.1.3 seems to fix the problem.

Turns out the problem disappeared when I upgraded to the VS2005 version. I've tested this on Win2k Japanese version.

Unfortunately, we can't make the jump from the 1.1 .Net Framework to the 2.0 .Net Framework.  We're interested in MSBee, but we haven't had a chance to try it.

We have the same problem with our application.  Customer reports that on Japanese OS the top menu text does not render if it's in Japanese, although it does render English text.  On English OS with Japanese fonts installed the text renders just fine.  We were using 1.3.0 when customers reported the problem, and have upgraded to 1.3.3 but that does not fix it.  They are still having the same issue.  Any ideas?
